Amazon’s Reliability Maintenance & Engineering (RME) team keeps one of the world’s most complex logistics networks running smoothly — and they’re looking for an RME Planner to join their operations in Mississauga, Ontario. About the Role: RME Planner

The RME Planner is responsible for building and maintaining structured maintenance plans using APM (Asset Performance Management) work orders, KPIs, and predictive data. You’ll screen and analyze work orders, audit equipment to document job requirements, and estimate labour hours, materials, and tools needed for each task. Your goal is to support a proactive, reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) program that keeps Amazon’s robotics and material handling equipment (MHE) operating efficiently.

Collaboration is central to this role. You’ll work closely with maintenance management, service technicians, and external vendors to coordinate planned maintenance activities during scheduled downtime windows. You’ll also manage spare parts inventory to support both planned and emergency repair needs, and contribute to reliability improvement projects by collecting engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Amazon offers a competitive hourly wage of $26.00 to $43.00 CAD per hour for this role, with total compensation that may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Responsibilities

As the RME Planner, your day-to-day work revolves around keeping Amazon’s maintenance operations structured, proactive, and measurable. From screening work orders to coordinating vendor activity, every task directly supports the reliability of the fulfilment centre’s critical equipment.

  • Screen and analyze work orders to schedule maintenance activities based on available resources, work criticality, and maintenance windows
  • Perform equipment audits to document job requirements and quality across facility and material handling equipment
  • Order spare parts and coordinate with vendors for repairs, ensuring stock is maintained for planned and emergency needs
  • Plan reliability improvement projects and gather engineering drawings and technical specifications to maximize system efficiency
  • Drive proactive maintenance programs targeting 85% planned work, ensuring activities are tracked in APM and closed accurately in Amazon’s maintenance cycle
  • Estimate labour hours, materials, tools, and equipment for all assigned work orders to support a reliability-centered maintenance program
  • Collaborate with maintenance management, service technicians, and vendors to coordinate proactive maintenance during available downtime windows

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and is comfortable working in an industrial or distribution environment. Amazon values candidates who are organized, technically minded, and able to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced fulfilment setting.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1+ year of CMMS experience in planning, scheduling, and auditing maintenance activities
  • 1+ year of Microsoft Office products and applications experience
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time
  • Physical ability to lift up to 49 lbs, stand/walk during shifts of up to 12 hours, climb ladders, and perform regular bending and reaching
  • Preferred: 2+ years of experience as a maintenance planner/scheduler in an industrial, manufacturing, or distribution environment
  • Preferred: 4+ years of enterprise asset management (EAM) software experience
  • Preferred: Experience with material handling systems (MHS) installation, operation, and maintenance
